01The challenge

The problem we were hired to solve

The challenge: turn single jars into full baskets

A single jar of honey rarely pays for its own delivery. The store had to turn single items into full baskets, and look as special as the products it sells.

Products for Home is a Dutch web shop for Mediterranean specialities. It sells raw Greek honey from Samos, extra virgin olive oil and Gia Giamas traditional fruit refreshments. Beeswax candles and natural care complete the range. Orders placed before 15:00 leave the same working day, for customers across the Netherlands and Belgium.

The numbers behind it are those of every delicatessen online. Jars and bottles cost from a few euros each. Free delivery, however, begins at €60 in the Netherlands and €70 in Belgium. So a store like this lives on order value. Every visit has to end in a fuller basket rather than a single jar. At the same time, every extra click between wanting something and paying for it puts a sale at risk.

The store also had to look the part. These are sun-ripened, hand-picked products with a story on every label. Yet too many WordPress shops dress products like these in the same stock theme as everyone else. Products for Home needed the polish of a bespoke brand site. Behind the scenes, it had to run on WooCommerce, so the team could keep full control of products, prices and orders.

Constraints

  • One-of-a-kind design
  • Low-ticket products
  • Two free-shipping thresholds
  • Local payment methods
  • Full control in WooCommerce

02Approach

The solution & execution

We skipped the off-the-shelf theme and built the storefront from our own library of custom Bricks elements. Then we designed the journey as one funnel, from the first product card to the last tick box before payment.

Every section a shopper sees is a custom Bricks element we wrote for this store. That covers the header and hero, the product cards and product template, the reviews and the footer. One brand and UI system runs through all of them. Headlines use Playfair Display with one word in italics, while Outfit sets the interface. The palette sticks to sage, teal and deep petrol. We also built the elements to stay light. Each one ships its own small stylesheet and script, and LiteSpeed and FlyingPress serve the pages from cache.

Next, we mapped the funnel one step at a time and gave each step a job. Product cards sell straight from the grid. The product page answers price, payment and delivery questions at the button. The side cart shows how close the order is to free delivery and what goes well with it. And the FunnelKit checkout keeps one last, well-chosen offer between the shopper and the place-order button.

  1. 01

    Bespoke Bricks element library

Designed and coded the storefront as our own Bricks elements, not a bought theme. It covers the header with its image mega menu and the hero slider with its scrolling text band. Category cards, bento sections, product cards, the product template, reviews and the footer complete the set. All of them share one brand system.

  2. 02

    Conversion-led product experience

Built product cards with quick add, a wishlist and volume-discount badges. Our product template then puts tiered pricing right beside the add-to-cart button. Payment methods, same-day dispatch, the free-shipping thresholds and loyalty points sit there too.

  3. 03

    Re-skinned side cart

Restyled FunnelKit's slide-out cart to match the store and added our own free-shipping progress bar. It tracks the Dutch and Belgian thresholds separately. Beside the basket, an often-bought-together column offers one-click add-ons.

  4. 04

WooCommerce checkout funnel with order bumps

Set up a branded one-page FunnelKit checkout with three delivery options and five local payment methods, including bol.checkout. An order bump waits at the payment step, and one-click add-ons sit beside the basket. A live review slider sits next to the total.

03What we built

Six details of a checkout funnel that sells every day

The result is a bespoke WooCommerce store on WordPress, built around the basket rather than the single jar. Today, the live homepage opens on a three-slide hero for Gia Giamas, Greek honey and Greek olive oil. Floating product photography sits above a teal band of copy that never stops moving. Hovering Honing or Olijfolie opens a panel of image tiles, one per product family. Product cards then show their volume discount, a wishlist heart and a second lifestyle photo on hover. Their basket button adds the product without leaving the page.

From there, the WooCommerce checkout funnel keeps building the basket. On a product page, a staffelkorting table takes an olive oil bottle from €16.62 to €14.96 at three or more. It sits right above the add-to-cart button, with payment methods, same-day dispatch and the order's loyalty points underneath. Next, the side cart counts towards free delivery and suggests what shoppers often buy together. At the one-page checkout, shoppers choose home delivery, a DHL ServicePoint or collection in Alphen aan den Rijn. They can then pay in five ways. Just before the terms, a "Speciale aanbieding" offers a 750 ml olive oil for €15.75 instead of €17.50. One tick adds it. After the order, WPLoyalty points give shoppers a reason to return: one per euro, ten more per product review.

01/ 06 Design

A storefront that looks nothing like a WordPress theme

The problem

Shoppers buy Greek honey, olive oil and sun-ripened fruit drinks with their eyes first. In a stock theme, those products look like everything else on WordPress.

What we built

We built the storefront from our own Bricks elements, not a theme. The hero rotates through Gia Giamas, Greek honey and Greek olive oil. Each slide brings its own floating product photography, with lemon and olive-branch cut-outs and progress dots around it. Beneath it all, a teal band keeps scrolling: "HEERLIJK VERFRISSEND • GEÏNSPIREERD DOOR GRIEKENLAND".

  1. Playfair headline with italic accent
  2. Floating product renders per slide
  3. Scrolling text band
  4. Auto-play slides with progress dots
  5. Two clear calls to action

02/ 06 Product cards

Buy from the grid with one tap

The problem

Every page between interest and the cart costs sales. Worse still, a volume discount that nobody sees until checkout never changes what goes in the basket.

What we built

Our product cards carry a STAPELKORTING badge wherever a volume discount applies. Each card also shows a wishlist heart, the star rating and the was and now price including VAT. On hover, a lifestyle photo swaps in and a round basket button appears. That button adds the product to the cart without leaving the page.

  1. STAPELKORTING badge
  2. Wishlist heart
  3. Quick add on hover
  4. Lifestyle photo swaps in on hover
  5. Was and now price incl. VAT

03/ 06 Product page

A buy box that answers every doubt

The problem

At the button, shoppers still have the same questions. Is it good? Is two cheaper than one? How do I pay, and when will it arrive?

What we built

Our product template answers them in one column. The WebwinkelKeur score sits under the title. Next, a staffelkorting table takes a bottle from €16.62 to €14.96 at three or more. Then come the stepper and the add-to-cart button. Below them sit the payment methods, same-day dispatch before 15:00 and free delivery from €60 (NL) or €70 (BE). Finally, the column closes with the loyalty points this order earns.

  1. Tiered volume discount
  2. WebwinkelKeur score under the title
  3. Add to cart with quantity
  4. Payment and delivery promises
  5. Loyalty points per purchase

04/ 06 Side cart

A side cart that grows the basket

The problem

A plain cart page is a dead end. It lists what's there but hides how close the order is to free delivery. It also offers nothing to go with it.

What we built

We re-skinned FunnelKit's slide-out cart to the brand. Then we added our own free-shipping progress bar, which knows the separate Dutch (€60) and Belgian (€70) thresholds. Beside the basket, a "Vaak samen gekocht" (often bought together) column offers matching products with one-click Toevoegen buttons. Meanwhile, the coupon field stays folded away.

  1. Free-shipping progress bar
  2. "Vaak samen gekocht" upsells
  3. Coupon field tucked away
  4. Straight to checkout

05/ 06 Checkout funnel

A checkout with a last-second offer

The problem

WooCommerce's default checkout is long and generic. It also closes the door on selling more at the very moment a shopper is most ready to buy.

What we built

We set up a branded one-page FunnelKit checkout with no menu to wander off to. It offers five ways to pay, from iDEAL | Wero to Klarna and bol.checkout. Below the payment options waits a "Speciale aanbieding" order bump. One tick adds a 750 ml olive oil for €15.75 instead of €17.50. Three more one-click add-ons sit beside the basket. Next to the total sit a trust column and a live review slider.

  1. Five local payment methods
  2. Pay through bol.checkout
  3. One-tick order bump
  4. Trust block next to the total
  5. Single place-order button

06/ 06 Mobile

Built for the thumb first

The problem

On a phone, image mega menus and wide product pages fall apart. A long list of honey types also turns into a guessing game.

What we built

On phones, the menu slides in from the left with each product family as an accordion. Opening Honing shows "Alle honing" and a thumbnail for every type, so shoppers see the jar before they tap. The hero, buy box and side cart each get their own phone layout, with full-width buttons sized for a thumb.

  1. Accordion product families
  2. Thumbnail per sub-category
  3. Large close target

04

The impact

Designed for Bigger baskets

A storefront nobody mistakes for a WordPress theme, with a funnel that sells at every step.

Every step of the journey now has a selling job. It starts with the badge on a product card and ends with the tick box before payment. At each stage, shoppers see the saving for buying more, the distance to free delivery and a well-matched extra. In the end, the shop made 40%+ more sales from its WooCommerce checkout funnel (AvixDigital project data, reported by the agency, 2026).

The storefront keeps moving too. It runs on our own element library rather than a bought theme. As a result, new sections, products and offers go live on the same foundation. Meanwhile, we keep shipping improvements as an ongoing project with the Products for Home team.

  • A one-of-a-kind brand storefront
  • A bigger basket at every step
  • A foundation that keeps shipping
